PLOTTING POST: THE WAR

Your Main Options
Hello team! Per the latest mod announcement, we're having a war event starting November 4 and ending the 18th, before we break for the holidays. You have three main options in this plot:
- Combat against D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. agents, primarily NPCs, although we might get some PC antagonists too. The agents can be non-sentient monsters, earthquakes, firestorms, or intelligent warriors with a variety of armaments.
- Temple Sanctuary, essentially hurt/comfort, healing injuries, camping out, the "home front" and talking.
- PsyLink AKA "the Drift," similar to the Pacific Rim, in which 2+ characters share their minds in order to activate unknown defenses for Xistentia. Again, characters will be unaware of how the Avatar protocol (the mystery measures) exactly manifests.
PSYLINK DESIGN
The PsyLink between 2+ characters helps protect Xistentia through unknown mechanics. To maintain a connection, the character must resist intense emotions, as well as intrusive memories and future worries. It's about staying in the present and pulling your partner back from the edge. Mechanistically, that means characters will have to save each other from reliving traumatic memories, fending off a unique shadow entity that symbolizes these psychological triggers.

Labyrinth Name: Ten Rings' Tunnel Hideout of Afghanistan
Brief Description: Mouth of cave, interior with Tony the Blacksmith -- windowless caves and tunnels in the mountains, fraught with random Stark Industry weapons and explosive materials, roughly hewn metal doors, and random enemy combatants.
Shadow Name: The Winter Soldier
Brief Description: With a metal arm and superstrength, brainwashed into a murderous machine, this is a distorted version of the latter-day canon version of Bucky Barnes. He bears very little resemblance to the man walking around Xistentia today. He represents Tony's guilt about failing to connect with his parents while they still had time, as well as frustration about failing to persuade the other Avengers to take a 'gun control' approach to their next-level abilities, ambient fears about being too damaged for personal relationships, and concerns that even the best intentions may be hijacked for evil that causes collateral harm to civilians.
Plans So Far? I'm gonna touch Loki's butt and maybe make Shepard play with me. :3

Labyrinth Name: Imperial Dungeons
Brief Description: As the name implies, this the dungeon of the Empress' palace. The walls and floors are smooth, dark-colored stone, the cells are enclosed with iron bars. It's surprisingly clean, though, and there isn't a torture implement in sight - the main threat is in the twisting, maze-like quality of the corridors, though you might also run afoul of a guard or two...
Shadow Name: Flamberg
Brief Description: A creature with Radu Barvon's abilities and appearance (with the only 'tell' being horizontal slit pupils), that moves like a puppet on jerked strings and speaks with a Voice of the Legion. It represents Ion's guilt over his perceived failure to save Radu from the Orden, barely-resolved grief over the loss of his oldest and dearest friend, lingering shame and insecurity that he was so easily manipulated and needed rescuing in the end, fear that he hasn't learned and grown enough to keep that from happening again, and fear that he and Abel will fail to stop the Orden.
Plans So Far? He'll want to be involved in the combat, whether by meeting the enemy's first wave or defending the temple. I don't have any specific plans for him re: syncing/drifting, so by all means hmu!

Labyrinth Name: Urban Sprawl
Brief Description: A mash of generic big urban hubs, including Miami and New York City. A twisting confusion of streets, tall buildings, deep shadows, neon. It's night time, heavily clouded, with sporadic rain. The vast majority of criminals are supernatural myths of some type, though few of them actually have an interest in Janus or the onlooker-- they're just hurting other myths or humans.
Shadow Name: Young Incubus
Brief Description: A young blond-haired incubus who shows signs of mortal injury, primarily violent stab wounds to the throat and chest. However, he doesn't seem to be weakened by this, being of some kind of invincible, zombie-like quality.
Plans So Far? Janus will probably be in combat out there (possibly handwavium). They are also here to help patch your character up if need be at the Temple. Likely Drift partner will be Zeke, but they are available for more!

Brief Description: Surrounded by D.E.S.T.I.N.Y.'s soldiers, friends and family of Zeke battle while a large castle on a hill crumbles.
Shadow Name: Red Soldier
Brief Description: Clad in red armor, this faceless warrior can take any amount of abuse and keep going. He seems to represent nothing other than the enemy that tore Zeke from his home. However, if you somehow remove it's helmet you'll see that your foe is Zeke himself. It represents Zeke's massive amount of secret self-hatred.
Plans So Far? Drifting with Janus! He's available for any combat scenarios beforehand, as he's a hardcore protector and will rescue anyone he can. If there are multiple drifts he's willing to try with anyone else as well.

Labyrinth Name: Ruined Castle
Brief Description: The exterior of the dark castle is ominous, suffocated by oozing black and red masses called 'blight'. As you walk, glowing monster eyes stare at you from within. The interior contains the signs of a massive battle, but no bodies. The air is oppressive, and red glowing lights, as well as black ash-like substances, float up from the floor.
Shadow Name: Calamity Ganon
Brief Description: The creature which nearly destroyed the world, who Link feared but destroyed nonetheless, is back. Not in it's final form, but rather the flying dragon-like creature which looms overhead as a constant reminder of Link's duty and Zelda's suffering.
Plans So Far? Drifting with Sidon, otherwise completely available. This is also a character who'd be willing to drift with yours if need-be, as he never lets his emotions get the better of him when it comes to battle.

Labyrinth Name: Anvil Ratway
Brief Description: A series of dank, sprawling underground passages almost identical to the Riften Ratway. Only differences are a distant but steady sound of waves and gulls, the briny smell permeating the place, and the fact that this place is a lot... wetter. Water drips from the ceiling, runs down the walls, and in the lower passages there are a few inches of standing water on the floor. It's full of skeevers and assortment of shady individuals - even if you don't get shiv'd, you won't be able to shake the feeling of being watched.
Shadow Name: The Justiciar
Brief Description: A faceless, implacable figure in Thalmor robes. It pursues relentlessly, destroying anything or anyone that crosses its path. It represents Vanyel's fears for the future of his homeland, his resentment of the Thalmor and their chokehold on the Empire, his desire to stop them from starting another Great War no matter the cost and simultaneous fear of the repercussions of open rebellion, the attendant shame over letting that fear hold him back, and a dread that all his efforts will come to naught.

Brief Description:Post apoc 2023 Los Angeles- Typical post apoc scene, screaming people, Skynet war camps, and terminators everywhere fighting against humans. Except that these terminators kill extremely bloody. They rip out hearts etc.
Shadow Name:Skynet! Parnell
Brief Description: Parnell is a enemy in Marcus's mind who has abused his power of Skynet to the point of no return. Marcus fears that things will go wrong and he would have to fight T-800 John Connor.

Brief Description: An abandoned record agency office, full of dusty photographs and albums with all furniture covered in white sheets, leaving it looking very ghostly and empty with few hints of any color.

Brief Description: A bald, seemingly sexless humanoid alien with sparkling blue skin, in reality one facet of her ex-husband's rock star alter ego, Maxwell represents Mandy's worry that it wasn't just Brian who was wearing a heavy facade--that maybe she was also just seeing dollar signs and cheap shock value when she talked of sexual revolution and that everything they did only hurt people in the end--as well as her deep fears of ever loving anyone again.

Brief Description: A decadent palace with golden halls and soft curtains. There are tables filled to the brim with the richest of foods. The doors are large archways, decorated with runes.
Shadow Name: Odinson
Brief Description: His shadow would resemble Thor, his body covered in a golden halo but his eyes would be black and empty. He would represent all that Loki could never be; honourable, kind, loyal, a true son of Odin while Loki remains pitiless, a monster disguised as a person.

Brief Description: A Tokyo highrise, modern and sleek in every facet. The Natsuki brand specializes in a range of products to help make everyday life more convenient. On the surface, it's a wholesome, unassuming company. But underneath hides a team of supernatural beings seeking out and breaking up illegal underground fighting rings that have enslaved their kind for entertainment.
Shadow Name: Charlie Natsuki
Brief Description: CEO of the Natsuki Corporation, Charlie is young in appearance but aged in reality. He is a cat yokai - on his ninth life, or so he claims - and spent most of the previous ones cultivating his fortune and status. On the outside, he's personable, charismatic, and flirtatious. On the inside, however, he is driven by a passionate hatred of humanity and desire to purge them from existence for the wrongs they've committed against his people. He is manipulative, cruel, and represents the worst of what Rose almost became under his influence and the fear that peace and lasting relationships between humans and yokai are impossible after all.
Plans So Far? Drifting with Vanyel Greyjoy but otherwise will be switching into fight mode easily! I'd love for someone to see the 'fight or die' side of Rose she has done her best not to show since arriving in Eudio and the aftermath of it. Otherwise, I'm totally up for anything!

Labyrinth Name: The (Final) Steps of Faith
Brief Description: The sole means of approaching the city of Ishgard. As well as providing passage across the Sea of Clouds, this great stone bridge also serves to anchor the series of arcane wards known as Daniffen's Collar.
Shadow Name: Nidhogg/Estinien
Brief Description: A giant black dragon with red eyes and horns. He will morph into a tainted version of Estinien, who represents Aymeric's guilt and remorse at having the Warrior of Light cast the eyes into the abyss instead of destroying them outright.
Plans So Far? Drifting with Era Ra! Will probably be a big damn hero and Gladiator it up with her as well where he can. He's available to assist in combat either rescue or help people stay calm during the whole thing. He's v. familiar with war.

Brief Description: A giant elephant-shaped mechanism that spouts water. Aw. Only, not aw because it's tainted by gross black ash substances that will hurt you to touch. It's also a puzzle so, y'know, have fun with that!
Shadow Name: Mipha
Brief Description: Sidon's late sister, Mipha. She represents a lot like Sidon has been told he should be more like (gentler, diplomatic, etc.) and would likely be more becoming of a prince. She also represents a bit of guilt at not being able to defeat the Divine Beast on his own or sooner and also a bit of grief over her loss still since she meant so much to the people of Zora's Domain and him as well.
Plans So Far? Drifting with Link, but otherwise totally open! He'll likely be fighting and assisting but might focus his efforts more at the Temple and making sure people are alright.

Brief Description: A stereotypically barren and sterile hospital, unnervingly empty.
Shadow Name: Nurse
Brief Description: The nurse looks kindly and sweet, but represents Amanda's general fear of medical situations and of being helpless and having to rely on other people for everything--and, along with that, her worry that earning her doctorate and everything else she's done in life were only overcompensating for being 'broken', nothing else.
Plans So Far? Drifting with Kavinsky, possibly some combat with the help of the special watch she got during the fair event and her technopath abilities? Hit me up.

Labyrinth Name: Polaris Park's famous ride, Andromeda and the Dragon's Den
Brief Description: Welcome to a nightmarish amusement park ride that smells constantly of cooking meat aka the victims burnt alive during the case that called Juno to Polaris in the very first place. The landscapes vary from the steep mountainside where Draco the Dragon resides to a big green plain where robotic lions are lounging in the grass lazily. As peaceful as the scene is, the scent remains and the longer you are there, the more pronounced it gets.
Shadow Name: Andromeda, Chainmail Warrior / Sarah Steel (CW Child Abuse)
Brief Description: Andromeda is the hallmark of Polaris Park, Northstar Entertainment's cash cow. However, she's far less shinier than her real life equivalent. Her armor plating is rusted, she moves with stilted, nightmarish steps, and she is relentlessly strong. "Juno" in a broken, scratching voice in between shrill shrieks as she swipes her sword and shield. "Why did you do it!?" Andromeda here represents Juno's abusive, alcoholic mother (Andromeda's creator) and also at the very heart of his deep-seated self-loathing and depression. She is the root of all of his self-hatred, though he strives to be better than her each and every day, even if it doesn't turn out so well. (End CW)
Plans So Far? Juno's primarily going to be running and gunning... maybe more gunning than running. He'll be stationed up somewhere high with a high-powered scifi sniper rifle thanks to
DadShepard. I have no drift plans in particular, but if you're interested in drifting, I'm super game to do that, it sounds like loads of fun. Other than that, the lady's got no real plans beyond keeping people safe, covering them while heading to the Citadel etc.no subject

Brief Description: A bit cramped, it has a garden out front, three bedrooms, and a television set in the living room. One bedroom is almost completely papered over with newspaper clippings, album covers, magazine pages, and art of musicians, with a record player featured prominently by the bed.
Shadow Name: Mr. Stuart
Brief Description: In the form of Arthur's father, the shadow is primarily a manifestation of internalized shame over his homosexuality. Though not physically imposing, the shadow of Mr. Stuart is a menacing figure, representing Arthur's pain and grief over the violent, humiliating rejection he suffered from his real father.
Plans So Far? ETA: Arthur will be drifting with Mandy Slade, but otherwise I am wide open!

Brief Description: Just as the name suggests: it's a pyramid, but all around, there are bits of shrapnel, floating sand and other odd debris. Some of it might even disintegrate with a simple touch.
Shadow Name: Apocalypse
Brief Description: A grayish-blue skinned mutant, lurking about the inner-most part of the pyramid, looming from the shadows, watching with his ever observant gaze. His distorted voice coaxes, tempts those to the dark side and when refused, he becomes enraged to the point of attack. He is a representation of Kurt's fear-- an absolute panic that he'll return one day, completely unharmed and twice as strong, ready to destroy everything he and the other X-Men have fought so hard for.
Plans So Far? A little bit of fighting here and there, but mostly temple stuff. He will be drifting with Kavinsky, though, and after he's learned control, he'd probably be willing to drift with others that he feels he can trust.

Brief Description: For Abel - it's about Cain running from the truth essentially. Abel trying to get Cain to speak to him and answer why he lied and abandoned him. For Easton- it's about Wyatt abandoning his pack and betraying his alpha in the process while being too weak to do anything about it.
Plans So Far? These two are going to fail to sync up. Wyatt will pass, but Cain will fail to confront his shadow and they'll never find proper balance.

Brief Description: the marine training boot camp in parris island, south carolina. specifically the bunk building, consisting of two columns of bunkbeds, an office, the head (latrines), and a mess hall. opening any of the doors to the outside sets you back at the end of the bunk room. it's oppressively hot and muggy with it.
Shadow Name: leonard lawrence
Brief Description: this leonard is a far cry from the real leonard ever was - he doesn't look like much at first, but looking at the back of his head will reveal there's nothing there, blood and brains exploded outwards from a splintered skull. he'll follow joker around wherever he goes, dragging his feet, sometimes asking for help, sometimes pointing a finger of blame for the state of his skull, and sometimes hurling a never-ending stream of abuse in the voice of staff sgt hartman, the drill instructor.
Plans So Far? joker is WAY out of his depth in this place full of magic users and sword wielders so mostly my plans for him are to make that really super obvious and maybe the real war was the friends we made along the way
