MAJOR BULLETIN: Holiday Plot, Synchr, Metaplot Signups

The war is over! As we head into the winter months, Xistentia starts to see snowfall, with a Secret Santa and a Christmas world-hop. Again, we will have no check-in through January. We are also happy to unveil Synchr, the Xistentia friending "app," in place of our icebreaker this month! We're also starting a registry/tracking page for IC metaplot involvement.

State Of The City, Post-War

The war has been over for a few days, and the city is recovering its normal defenses and functions. Characters will see a gradual return of the hidden protective wards that prevent violent actions from making impact. However, significant damage remains from the attackers. Custom, sentimental belongings are hard to replace, and the city seems to be struggling to recreate larger structures that have been damaged— including smashed windows and burned buildings. The residents will have to join together to repair it.

For foragers, supplies and desired objects are spawning automatically again throughout the city. However, the pattern and availability of item spawns seems to have changed slightly.

Now, objects seem to be spawning primarily at active business locations (PC or NPC), and they also seem to be of more generic make, with less variety. The same blue T-shirt, the same cheese sandwich, near-identical furniture, and similar beers on tap may be found throughout the city. It's not impossible to find more unique items, such as elaborate turkey dinners or clawfoot bathtubs, but it may take weeks of searching the city to find them. Of course, characters (PC or NPC) who can craft might be able to help you out if you barter or earn a favor.

Events: Winter Wonderland

It's snowing, and that makes it official! City organizers are putting together a little holiday party that's bound to go wrong at some point. The gathering is non-denominational, combining several celebrations around the Multiverse, including Christmas, Hanukkah, and Diwali, as well as other "genre" festivals. Characters are welcome to run booths and make traditional performances. Singers, reenactments, Hella sweet mead, Henna artwork, meat pies, storytelling, and portraiture are just the start.

And of course, presents! Gift-giving is modeled after secret santa, where characters sign up and are assigned partners they'll have to surprise with a gift! See signups below. Some resources for gift-making can be found here. Signups close on November 28 and pairs will be announced on November 29.

F.A.T.E.S. is in a giving mood too, but as usual, her generosity can be a little misguided. The holiday season will also see an item drop, where items from characters' pasts will re-emerge. Signups for this will go up mid-December. Players can choose whether these items are comforting or traumatic. Note, powered objects may be nerfed.

Unfortunately, D.E.S.T.I.N.Y is not in such a giving mood. In fact, her recent defeat in battle has left her in an unforgiving mood, and she's feeling less than festive. Luckily, a kindred spirit is on hand to help. Just as all the gifts have been gathered, a surprise visitor will intercede! No, it's not Santy Claus.

Aren't you all excited? The Grinch has come to steal Christmas, and some of you will be lucky enough to be stolen with it! The party will descend into chaos, as the Grinch takes you all to . . .

THE GRINCH STEALS XISTENTIA: WHOVILLE

. . . Whoville, of course! Similar to the Spidermarvel event we had some months ago, this constitues Xistentia's second prison world. Characters will find themselves trapped in the Grinch's world, home of the species known as the Who - and this is their favourite season.

The Grinch has stolen Christmas, along with a number of you Xistentia residents. To get back to Xistentia, you must show him the true spirit of Christmas.

Note that this plot is intended to provide a festive setting for your characters during December. It will cover several weeks and be backtag friendly. There will of course be ways to opt out - not every character will be taken. Abductees will still have their daemons, and be able to communicate they're alive and well. More information will be available through a dedicated OOC post in advance of the event.

Mini-Plot: Demons vs Thieves

We're also looking for 1-3 volunteers for a small urban/social/community plot!

The stresses of war seem to have led to friction among residents. There are a number of [NPC] sex workers in town, loosely affiliated. The most prominent advocate for this group is Mora, a succubus who isn't usually very murderous. She manages a strip club by the heart of a city. She claims that a group of thieves has been at work, however, stealing and damaging rarer objects, such as gemstones, artwork, and even a vehicle. Mora reports she will take matters into her own hands if the thieves do not come forward, or someone does not help with protection, if not recovering their goods.

This subplot will be NPCed by China, ranging from 1-5 threads in total over the next few months. Sexual RP will not occur with the NPCs, but settings and themes are likely to be somewhat NSFW (nudity, sex work themes). Please sign up below!

Synchr

Instead of an icebreaker this month, we're introducing a friending app that characters can use to make new friends. Just like Tinder IRL, characters ICly have the option of swiping "yes" or "no" depending on whether or not they're interested in making a connection.

Instructions are as follows:

Copy, customize, and post the code below into an entry on your own journal. Daemons may take liberties with your character's profile, so feel free to put in information, true or false, that your character would not ICly share.
Have your character's daemon announce the new profile to xistentia in a text or audio post. Optionally, you can including an embarrassing outtake of the photo and/or profile.

Metaplot Signups

Metaplot is pretty low-key here, but there are puzzles to solve, events to introduce, and consequences that will change with character actions if you want to get involved. We now have a page for signups here.

enable_me_plz again! All submissions on the last ETP will be included, but if you'd like to update or add, please head down to the comments to fill out the form. The purpose is to invite new players and characters to your canon.

Reminders

Test Drive meme will open on November 25, 2017! This will include a holiday party preview and some winter creatures.
Again, the check-in will be cancelled in January 2018. Thus, the next will take place in March 2018.
