Mod Announcement #3
Posted August 24, 2017
MAJOR BULLETIN: The Fair
This month, we have a social event, the Fair intended to be a little lower-key than the Prison World from July/August, though you're more welcome to continue backtagging. The next major plot will take place in October with a focus on war. Between then and now, our plots will continue to focus on socializing and adventure.
About the Fair
As seen on the Test Drive Meme, there's a fair in Xistentia, featuring everything from a ferris wheel to penis-shaped waffles (NSFW if you Google it, thanks Taiwan), beer to an archery square, popsicles and crafts for sale. In general, everything is free, but the luminosity of the lamps throughout the fairgrounds indicate that F.A.T.E.S. is [creepily] juicing you all for the emotional runoff. It's a grand time, and true opportunity to mix and mingle.
The log will be posted 3 days after applications open, on August 29, 2017.
Kissing Booth

Sure, that's believable.
Please sign up if your character gives or receives a kiss at the booth, as the identity and particular quirks of these wonderful snoggers will be relevant to future plotting.
Dice Rolls
For the fair competitions, several unique, in-game prizes will be determined using spread sheets and dice rolls! In order to compete, please rate your character according to the following subjective scales and then respond to the form. Note, players are encouraged not to focus on winning but CR building. To explain ~unexpected~ failures, there will be a "luck" factor completely randomized, to represent everything from distraction by birds to slipping on a banana peel.
Additionally, note that the games are rigged so that all characters are on somewhat more level footing. Specifically, when asked to 'rate' your character, compare them to other beings in their own native universe.
"STAT" | RANGE | GAMES | STAT DESCRIPTION |
Agility | 1-10 | Ring toss, archery, darts, sparring square | How bendy your character is. 1 is a weak layman, 5 is an athletic person, and 10 is the most powerful in their native universe. You choose this number for your character. |
Strength | 1-10 | High striker, arm wrestling | How strong your character is. 1 is a weak layman, 5 is an athletic person, and 10 is the most powerful in their native universe. You choose this number for your character. |
Luck | -10 to 10 | All | This will be randomized, unless you want to take a deliberate penalty for comedy's sake (negative integers only). This may be explained by everything from random chance to equipment failure or environmental distractions. Generally, we choose this number for you. |
Drunkenness | 0 to -5 | All | This modifier is your subjective rating of how impaired the character is while they're competing, by intoxicants (e.g., beer). You choose this number for your character. |
Cheating | 0 to 5 | All | Whether you're using magic blessings or bribing your daemon to tilt the archery target a little to the left, you're cheating! You choose this number for your character. |
FINAL SCORE = Agility OR Strength +/- Luck - Drunkenness + Cheating
Sign up here! |
Wanna compete? Sign up at the thread below. The form must be completed by the deadline of: 3 days after apps open on August 29, 2017. Prizes will be announced on the log. See below for what those potential prizes/outcomes are.
If you prefer not to compete in dice rolls, several standard prizes include: a variety of weird-looking stuffed animals, food, really terrible stationery that breaks and runs out of ink constantly (F.A.T.E.S. just reads things on the computer), and the option to change the color of your character's daemon to other natural hues. Feel free to claim these prizes with or without further mod discussion.
Note this is not a dice-driven game, this mechanic is just being utilized for a spot of fun.
Prizes
There are five games that have dice-driven rolls and prizes! You will be encouraged to play out these prizes, but this is not required. Note, a character can win "highest" score in only one contest. If a character wins at more than one in the spreadsheet, the mods will select another CUZ.

CONTESTS OF FINESSE (RING TOSS, ARCHERY, DARTS, SPARRING) | |
DICE SCORE | PRIZE |
Highest | Character knows how to "say just the right thing" once this next week. This may be the perfect burn, or an incredible compliment, or the apology that finally sets CR on the way to healing. Note, this is a matter of intuition, not mind-control; there are reasonable limits to the degree of influence. Plot with one of your fellow players accordingly to intensify your CR. |
Positive (0+) | Improved emotional intuition for the next 24 hours or until the end of the fair. Those of us who are ICly capable of subtlety may wish to plot to drop hints! |
Negative (-1<) | Daemon makes extremely awkward, unfiltered observations for the next 24 hours until the end of the fair. Nothing particularly triggering; the kind of thing everyone's thinking. |
CONTESTS OF POWER (HIGH STRIKE, ARM WRESTLING) |
|
DICE SCORE | PRIZE |
Highest | Characters will experience a prophetic dream about how to activate a special function at the Temple, which will kick us off to the next major social event next month in late September/early October. This character will be responsible for ICly announcing the event to the rest of the populace. |
Positive (0+) | Characters will receive a unique item usable up through the October war-oriented major plot. |
Negative (-1<) | Powers, if any, become slightly uncooperative for the next 24 hours and character gains the ability to remember goofy, meaningless, non-distressing dreams and meticulously regurgitate them for the following week. |

Missions
In case you missed it, you're welcome to sign up for missions here! A minimum of two characters is required for each of the tasks, and you have unlimited time to OOCly RP them out. We will provide you with infodump and any requests we have about disseminating information, as some of these missions are integrated into metaplot. Rules and limitations are still in development and will be announced as that occurs.
Reminders
- Applications will open on August 26, 2017 @ 3:00PM PST, 6:00PM EST, or 10:00PM GMT! They close on September 2 @ 3:00PM PST, 6:00PM EST, or 10:00PM GMT. This will be our fourth wave.
- We have new babus on the Fair TDM, please touch them here.
- The last icebreaker was released here, and players are encouraged to join in if they have not already. Not sure why this didn't get its own announcement slot. Eh!
Questions? Plotting? Feedback?
Feel free to use this post for plotting. There is also questions thread below where you can reach the mods.
We are also looking for feedback about the Prison World plot. Was it fun? Too convoluted? Not long enough, or too long? We definitely welcome your thoughts. There is a separate thread over here for you to use. You are also welcome to contact us by PM.

Characters Played: Era Ra
What I Liked: general concept was interesting. I liked that it gave the opportunity for my character to experience 'modern' times and feelings she didn't have the chance for in her native world. Even if she doesn't remember all of it clearly, the aftereffects re: romantic feelings and a tiny bit more knowledge of common modern stuff is fun.
Also really enjoyed that it didn't make me feel stressed out about oh no but I have to keep up with everything!!!
What Could Have Been Better: The length of IC time was fine I think, but it felt a bit more like a meme than an event if that makes any sense? Not bad per se, but it didn't feel like it had a lot of impact apart from minor character-specific things. Which is alright, but maybe not what you were looking for? idk what could have been done differently to change that up though! So not really all that helpful, sorry :(
Other Remarks: ♥

Characters Played: Vex
What I Liked: It was very pretty and it had a lot of opportunities.
What Could Have Been Better: Maybe too many opportunities? When the event first came out it seemed overwhelming and it didn't help that I was canon-blind so I wasn't "getting" it. The only reason I participated was because Vex wouldn't have let his BF go in alone, but I found a nice little opportunity within that with Janus so it worked out.
It could be just me but it seemed to have a lot of moving parts and simplifying things might help encourage participation? Also I'm not a fan of canon-specific events, I like more original concepts that don't feel exclusive. But that's just me! nbd.
Other Remarks: ♥ Keep up the great work tho! It's obvious you put a lot of care and thought into everything and I super appreciate it.

Characters Played: Rafa, Wyatt, Jace
What I Liked: The AU setting was interesting! I liked the concept as an event and thought there was plenty to do within it.
What Could Have Been Better: I think it would be best to keep future plots separate from the TDM. In my opinion TDMs should be more generic and I prefer for them not to be tied to the game's plot. I think they should be more of an opportunity for people to play their characters in the day to day environment of Xist. That, to me, is more useful in terms of testing out the setting and also would enable people to keep TDM CR if they wanted to.
I also think the setting chosen, as in the MCU, had both positives and negatives. It's good to use a setting that's familiar so that people know what they're working with, although that does assume that everyone knows what the MCU setting is. Notably though, we don't have any MCU characters in game. It might be interesting to AU into worlds that characters are from already - for example, the Hunger Games, the 100. That would give other characters the opportunity to see where their friends are actually from, which could have an interesting effect on CR. That's just an idea!
Other Remarks: I think it's really great to ask for feedback like this! It's a nice touch. Thank you :)
