PLOTTING POST: MAHYRST

PLOTTING POST: MAHYRST
Posted May 31st, 2018
Welcome, brave adventurers!

Are you ready to dungeon some dragons? Per the latest mod announcement, we're having an off-world event starting June 2nd and ending on the 16th.

Adventurers will begin in the city of Haybrook. It's an unassuming little village at first glance. There are the laziest of cattle and people milling about their mundane, everyday lives. It’s almost picture perfect peace but it isn’t long before you can see what is amiss. The shadows come at night, corrupting the lay of this otherwise harmonious land. Can you help them, brave adventurer, before it's too late and the shadow queen dooms them all?

Hot on the heels of the Mirror event, this Prison World will see characters adopted into their very own fantasy adventure, Dungeons and Dragons style. They'll have new sets of skills and strengths to choose from, and just like in a real RPG, they'll choose from a range of character classes. The adventures and quests they undertake may even lead them into a showdown with the Shadow Queen herself - an Agent of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. connected directly to the virus that spawned the Mirror event. If you were looking for revenge, now is your time.

As with previous prison worlds, characters will be AUed into this setting. They may retain their given names and personality traits... or they can be totally different. It's up to you! Characters will remember their time in the prison world upon returning to Xistentia. In the meantime, however, have fun!
Looking For Group

You have quite a few options in this whole new world and they are:
  1. Party Up with fellow adventurers to hunt for cool loot, gain experience, and gather clues to getting to the Shadow Queen’s lair. There are a few ways that you can go about this!

    • Good Ol' Fashioned Dungeon Crawling Exactly as it sounds! Characters wiill tackle the dungeon of Ember Marsh, which is a strange land tainted by the Shadow Queen's influence.

This is not a dungeon you can solo. But maybe you try! Either way, you're likely not the only one that's headed this way as there's that wonderful hefty reward for dealing with Shadow Queen once and for all. She isn't making it easy, however, as monstrous beasts roam these marshes. The mud is mixed with ash and there's the distinct smell of oil in the air. That tends to spell disaster when it comes to fire-aspected enemies such as the ones found here. Hopefully, your equipment isn't too flammable!

    • Hunts are another way to pass the time. The villages of Haybrook just seem to be up to their ears in beasts for adventurers to slay. They sure seem to make a lot of money to pay off people to do their dirty work but you don't mind. Pay is pay. The one that comes with the biggest price tag is the Plain Pudding. Despite its unseeming name, this creature is a massive, slimy, and jiggling beast. It has an enormous mouth lined with razor sharp teeth, huge eyes, and spawns a multitude of oozing, tarry tentacles to ensnare adventurers for consumption.
  2. DEFEATING THE SHADOW QUEEN is your ultimate goal. Of course, it won't come easy! This is the final boss, after all. Make sure to stock up on hi-potions and phoenix downs or else you might just regret it.

Especially since the person in your party might not actually be your ally after all.
    • TRUE HEROES are on the straight and narrow when it comes to defeating the Shadow Queen. They want to end her cruel reign once and for all. The Shadow Queen will conjure up shadow clones of the characters fighting her in an attempt to stop them. Other adventurers will have to help them defeat these copies of themselves as they're too powerful to take down alone.
    • ... Or your ally might actually turn out to be your enemy and double cross you instead. These are the D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. agents in disguise, ready to strike when you least expect and totally for the Shadow Queen drowning this prison world in darkness. After all, it means that D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. gets to keep the use of the power of reflections and wasn't that just so fun?
  3. OPT OUT, hang back in Xistentia and guard its borders, instead of participating in the world hop.
Upon return on June 16th, characters will reappear on the beach of Xistentia. Whether or not the reflection ability used by D.E.S.T.I.N.Y is disabled will depend on character participation.
Classes

Just like any campaign, characters get to choose a starting class. Characters will lose any powers they currently have, and exhibit the powers of their class instead! These can be anything from mage, bard, warrior, and so on. But of course, this prison world has some unique classes to choose from.

  • The Revered are a special type of summoner. They are able to use attacks based on memories of close ties and intimate bonds. These summons are more powerful the more deep the relationship between whoever they are basing their attacks on are. For example, someone might be able to completely summon the temporary image of a lost love in their grief and use an ability of theirs that they remember as a potent attack. .

  • Obscuras are casters with frail physical ability, but fairly immense spiritual power and especially against the undead. They will be extremely useful for combat against the Shadow Queen's dark, undead minions and demons.

  • Myrmidons are masters-of-arms. What they lack in magical ability, they make up for in their ability to wield a variety of weapons. From melee to long-range, these fighters have an expertise in weaponry that is unparalleled.
You are free to choose these classes or any other classic D&D or MMORPG ones that might tickle your fancy.
