bloodychangelingHi everyone! Adelai here with my third girl who I've wanted to app for awhile, October 'Toby' Daye from the October Daye series
If you know her canon, she's coming from the middle of Ashes of Honor, right after Tybalt made That big Confession while thinking they were going to die.
For the canon blind, the best way to explain Toby and her life is she's the child of a very strong Faerie and a human man, and was taken away from the human world as a child and grew up full of contradictions because of mixed blood. Through her mother, she learned magic and courtly manners, but when she couldn't be the girl her mother wanted her to be, she ran away to live in a changeling flophouse and learned all sorts of unladlylike things to survive. She eventually gained a knighthood and went to live mostly in the mortal world as a PI, although she used those skills to also help her liege and others in Faerie--but things totally hit the fan when her attempt to rescue her liege's kidnapped wife and daughter got her turned into a fish for fourteen years, taking her away from her mortal fiance and daughter.
And things have just gotten so much more fun from there. She's pretty grumpy most of the time, especially now that she recently lost a lover, but she's also a very reluctant hero who loves her chosen family very much and will do everything she can to protect innocents from the people who might victimize them. She's awkward with technology made after the mid 1990s, although one of her best friend is a cyber dryad so she'll...cope.
Toby's main magic from her mother is blood magic, which mainly falls into doing things to other people--tasting a person's species simply by tasting the air around them, identifying the signature smell of their magic, shifting the balance of mixed bloods like herself and 'riding the blood' to see the memories of a person just before they bled or died.I'll have a permissions post up for those abilities soon.
