MAJOR BULLETIN: Panultimata (Fake Married) Event, Reminders

On the heels of the sex party and conflicts within the refugees of Xistentia, off-world threats have reared their head again. According to F.A.T.E.S., another world-hop is available-- an independent faction that has managed to save itself from D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. by exploiting others and using their pain, fear, and triumphs to fuel protections. In order to help, characters may have to pretend to be dating or married— or risk exposure to horrible violence and death. Finally, please note: we're hiring plot mod(s)!

Event: Panultimata (Fake Dating, Horror, Dystopia)

The February plot will take place in a "world hop" to an original location called Panultimata, focusing on the fake married/dating trope along with some violence and horror because that's how we roll here in Xistentia I guess.

At Panultimata, we find third party "independents" who belong to neither F.A.T.E.S. nor D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. Instead of being fully assimilated or living in refuge, they instead take people from other worlds. The captured people are used to run horrifying, gladiatorial blood games and physical challenges that are video-broadcasted all over. The emotional energy from their high-octane fears, loves, and triumphs-- as well as muted audience feedback— in turn helps to power the city and keep it protected from D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. There are sinister murmurs that the deal actually goes deeper than that, but that's left for the PCs to uncover.

Participants must infiltrate Panultimata and help gather information and free as many people as possible. This infiltration will likely be dangerous. There are two "classes" of people:

• Primus class, the ruling group, who run the world and operate the advanced technology required for abductions and shielding. Some of these are former members of the slave class. The Primus class is marked by their requirement of coupling and legacy, thus all members of this class (including infiltrators) are expected to have at least one official romantic 'partner' and to be working on building a lasting business. The idea is, you have to be invested in their future to have what it takes.
• Servus class, used for entertainment and sport. These are ordinary beings from around the Multiverse pulled from their world and thrown into a bizarre media circus, sometimes able to make sacrifices for those they care about, and other times totally against their will. They are as often lauded as heroes, as their suffering protects the rest of society— but just as often, they are the butt of cruel jokes and exploitation. They may eventually earn or be bought out of this class with compelling 'performances' on-screen.

Note, new characters applying in February can be 'rescued' from Panultimata. Specifically, they must accept a daemon and agree to live in Xistentia, forsaking everything that the other world had for them, at least for now-- very likely including luxury and loved ones.

Note, there is no brain-washing element to this world-hop. Violence and physical/body horror are likely.

Ongoing Mini-Event: Succubus vs Thieves

Our multi-month mini-event is still ongoing! It focuses on urban themes and investigation, a mysterious conflict between a succubus and several sex workers that she is associated with, and thieves who are allegedly harassing them. The wards shield the city are designed to protect against physical violence, but not weird demon magic or, incidentally, theft.

As a result, infernal power interactions-- as well as— interpersonal conflicts, causeperiodic chaos.

Though signups are closed, we will continue to have occasional open prompts, such as Daemonic Madness which is still open for January backtags.

Latest Icebreaker

If you didn't catch it, the latest network icebreaker is still running! It is glitch, which means it may optionally be posted without the characters' permission. The theme itself is the Spirit Animal. In order you play this one, your character or their daemon will find a creature and post the survey questions.

Which means that these are not necessarily 100% accurate.

Enable Me Plz

We'll be advertising Xistentia on enable_me_plz again! All submissions on the last ETP will be included, but if you'd like to update or add, please head down to the comments to fill out the form. The purpose is to invite new players and characters to your canon.

Changes to Applications

Following feedback received from the playerbase, we have made a few minor changes to the detail required in Applications. It should be noted that where a character has powers and abilities beyond that of a baseline human, the Powers And Abilities section of their application should include any relevant weaknesses and power limits, in addition to describing the powers themselves. The guidance on the Apps page has been updated so that it clearly states this requirement. We have also increased the word limit for the Powers section from 300 to 400 words, to facilitate this requirement.

Additionally, we also receive occasional requests for characters to bring animal companions with them to Xistentia. While this sometimes means ordinary pets, it sometimes also means creatures with special abilities. In addition, we have received some requests for daemons to have special abilities. Applicants are now asked to detail the powers of any animals or daemons in the Starting Equipment section of the app. It should be noted that any such requests are subject to mod consideration, and these abilities may be subject to nerfing to maintain game balance in the same way as character powers.

Any changes to the powers of a character, their animal companion, or their daemon, should be requested through the Mod Contact page. They may also be incorporated into an ordinary Canon Update request if appropriate.

As our Applications are always open, these changes will be effective as of today.

le question regarding the gladiator fights - can the fighters be drugged or some way mind altered to put more into the fighting? :O i ask bc we're wanting to have era and thor fight but he's going to be very against really harming her much if it's just because someone said he had to 8T its not like era is the hulk okok

Mind-altering drugs/mechanics will certainly be an option, and there will be other incentives as well— similar to the Hunger Games, if operators realize that there isn't enough authentic emotion in the situation, they'll find ways to make things dire. Note also, the 'true' inhabitants of Panultima (both primus and servus) will be somewhat brainwashed/indoctrinated into their world, believing this to be all they have ever known, making it hard to hold onto old values and morals. In order to blend in and obtain the necessary information, Thor would know he most likely has to act similarly. Even if part of him doesn't want to.

We'll definitely be sure to talk about this in the plotting post!
