Test Drive Meme #8 (NSFW)

Test Drive Meme #8
I believe in the death of tomorrow

CRASH LANDING

Exit one dimension, enter the next. It was chaos: pressure against your ears, light bending in an impossible, unimaginable way. The very molecules of your body vibrating against one another. If you have windows, the view outside makes no sense. Even if not, your hands, your face, your feet seem like an uncertain thing. It's the feel of reality itself tearing apart, reshaping, reconnecting, thread by thread.

And suddenly, there's a beach— or ocean, whichever you land in. Smoke. Fire. Salt water churning up, fizzing around, almost at odds with the layer of thick snow over everything.

Maybe you crash, in a ship wrecking into sand. Maybe you merely stumble out of a portal, a ragged wormhole in space. Or maybe you fall off the back of an incredible steed, some creature that carried you into this place. Either way, there's pandemonium around you. Incredibly, severe injuries are far and few between— nobody's screaming about the dead. But you might have to help pull someone free of wreckage, or move quickly to salvage burning belongings from the landing craft. Maybe it's the crafts themselves, that you're trying to salvage.

Likely, you don't know them, these other strangers who arrived here[1]. Maybe you don't trust them— you just came out of a dying world, after all. But you all have one thing in common: you're here now.

When you get a second to breathe, maybe you'll see it. The snowy forest across the sand. Beyond that, the glint of a faraway city.
Dinner with a Succubus (NSFW)

Your first dinner party in Xistentia[2] is a sumptuous and luxurious dinner that takes place at the private residence of one of the natives.

As you step in, the first thing you notice is the scent of indigenous flowers mingled with the floating traces of savory and sweet from the elaborate buffet set up on the side. Treats from around the Multiverse.

However, sectioned off from these public areas, there are spaces reserved for sexual activity. It's not so surprising, when you remember that the lights outisde, the power behind the city itself, runs off human emotional interaction— and desire is a powerful emotion indeed. These rooms feature every conceivable surface you might want to tangle on, from silk to lacquered desks, to rubber.

Chests hold sundry toys and other equipment. Rooms have beds sized comfortably from anywhere from one to five people, and there are peepholes. Everything is marked with painted symbols in a language that is known to no one person, but somehow universally comprehensible.
NETWORK

Xistentia now has its own 'friending app.' You can use it to make connections with new people! But beware, your daemon may well post without your permission, and things could get pretty embarrassing.

F.A.T.E.S. thought it was a pretty good pun: Synchr. Get it? Like sinker? Hook, line, and?

Footnotes
  1. Some of these can be nameless, plot-device NPCs to facilitate interactions! But even in this case, please avoid gore in describing their current state of being. Anyone dead or catastrophically injured will have disappeared by the time your characters make it to Xistentia. There are no corpses or dying here.

  2. If you decide to join the game, this party may be patched over into the sex-themed Gala detailed in the announcement. The IC log is already up, but friends-locked!

[ he looks good and that's something dani can appreciate. does, in fact, appreciate. she turns the vibrator off again and sets it aside. ]

Drinks first, then.

[ with that decided, she moves — first to link her arm with his and then toward where she thinks she remembers the bar being. there's no hesitation or worry that he won't follow along, never mind the fact that she couldn't move him an inch if he decided not to move of his own volition. ]

I'll see if they have any fun cocktails. If not, probably wine. Or shots. Not beer, though. [ the face she makes is exaggerated. she doesn't actually hate the taste of beer. ]

[Oh no worries at all. He's coming with her, arm in her arm, glancing down, trying not to notice how good her hair smells. When you're a mutant freedom fighter, you tend not to end up smelling-- quite that good, even if they do their best to maintain good living conditions. Health is important, when you're fighting for freedom.

Having nice hair is less important. Though you could never tell, from John's handsome coiff.]

'Fun' in terms of color? [he asks when they reach the bar. because there's one being served to another woman right now, aquamarine fading up into a brilliant sky blue.] Or alcohol content? I don't want to pigeonhole you into gender roles at this point. [He smiles at her.] Seems like that wouldn't work in my favor.

[ her hair smells very nice — even after landing on a beach full of fire and metal and terribleness, she's been taking good care of herself. that hasn't translated into finding more outfits to her liking, but she's arrived in high heels and a short dress, so she's covered for the night. (not very covered, physically: most of her legs and her shoulders are bare.) ]

Color, cute little umbrellas, alcohol content. Any of those'll do.

[ she sets her free hand on his lower arm, just above the wrist, and pats him for a moment. it would be condescending if not for the way that she's grinning back at him, obviously as amused by her own action and words as she is by his comment. ] Smart and pretty. I lucked out.

[john laughs at that-- not because it isn't true, or because he's used to hearing it, but because-- he isn't. for one thing, admittedly, mutants tend to be hella pretty by and large. evolution kind of magically caught on to what's 'in' in the twenty-first century, as far as phenotypes and photogenic qualities go. but mutants don't always talk about it, as such. it's different to hear.

his own laughter sounds vaguely unfamiliar to his own ears, too.]

This is the part where I admit I'm new to this kind of thing, [he tells her, after making orders for each of them.] And that's not a smart or pretty ploy. Fact. My scene is more... freedom fighting, marginalized peoples. Planet Earth. You? They all come confident and gorgeous where you're from?

[ in dani's world, looks aren't everything — but they're a lot. not just one's bone structure and weight, muscle mass or lack thereof, but one's clothing, the brands one wears, the style of it... she likes knowing those rules, likes playing with them, safe in the knowledge that a fashion faux-pas isn't going to be what breaks her or her social standing. ]

Freedom fighting? Sounds impressive.

[ she tips her head back, considering his muscles in a new light for a moment. it does sound impressive. it sounds a great deal more serious than anything dani's ever done in her entire life, except maybe recently. ]

But yeah, pretty much. [ she pretends to think about it before flashing him a quick grin. ] Though obviously they're not all as gorgeous.

[He can't stop smiling at her. There's sincerity in her eyes, genuine appreciation for the little bit he's shared. And he's well past being needlessly humble or minimizing the fact that he thinks his work is— you know, kind of important.] And what do they call you in your world?

[Their drinks get made remarkably quick. He accepts his, then slides hers over to her. It leaves a trail of condensation shining on the counter top. The air in here is thick and warm, soupy with substances and energy that he in all his mutant freedom fighting years doesn't quite have the words for. Unfamiliar, a little. But intimately familiar too.]

I'm John. If you prefer code names and call signs, I have one of those too.

[ anyone risking their life is going to think that they're doing it for something important, aren't they? dani doesn't have much experience with that kind of thing, but she still feels like she can relate. even if what she's trying to do, what she's risking her life for is on a much smaller scale. what she was risking her life for, maybe. her father doesn't seem to be here at all. ]

Mostly, they call me Dani. But D, Dan, Danielle, Miss D or Yo Wakefield are all acceptable as well.

[ she takes her drink, lifting it high enough to fit her lips around the straw that sits next to the little umbrella it came with, holding his gaze while she takes a sip. ]

So what's your call sign?
pridestar: (stoop)

[personal profile] pridestar 2018-02-23 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
'Yo Wakefield,' [John repeats, smiling despite himself.] Sure. [She reminds him of the mutant women he'd worked with, back at home. Who found ways to be playful and sarcastic, even in the worst of war. Or maybe because of the worst of war. They'd pull that out of him sometimes, which was-- healthy, he came to realize. The rest of the time, he's been careful to keep his life divided. Too careful, maybe.]

Thunderbird. After the legend that the car was named for, not the car itself.

[He grins at her crookedly. He knows she's here for the same reason he is, or close enough. Anyone in Xistentia is here to fight against forces of death and destruction, after all. Even if, yeah, the 'fight' often looks an awful like dress-up at a sex party. What can he say?] I grew up on one of the reservations in Arizona. You happen to know what that is? 'Wakefield' seems like an Earth name, but I can never be sure in this place.

Thunderbird. [ just like he'd echoed 'yo wakefield', she echoes this, liking the weight of the word on her tongue. it's a good callsign. very cool, very badass. she's already impressed and happy to feel that way. ]

It's an Earth name. [ and if he's also from earth and from a reservation -- ] Native American, yeah? [ she thinks he looks the part, but what does she know? nothing, really. new york is diverse, but dani's never really made much of a point of learning about other cultural backgrounds in any kind of depth. ]

I grew up in New York. Mostly. [ she shrugs. ]

[personal profile] pridestar 2018-03-19 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Seen New York in the movies, [John says, smiling a little. maybe it would have made him feel small, once, to be a small-town— well, big res Apache boy, talking to a girl so fine, but that was a long time ago.] Always wanted to go, but I ended up on the West Coast mainly.

[He taps his drink against her drink. Knocks his back all the way, swallowing easily. Tastes good to him, even if it lacks the pretty color of hers.]

What do you love about New York?
millenials: (☀︎)

[personal profile] millenials 2018-03-23 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
What don't I love about New York?

[ dani is worldly in many ways and completely clueless in many others, though it's a cluelessness that includes her own ignorance of it. she's travelled the world — well, mostly europe — but it was the kind of travel that involved hotels and yachts and expensive experiences, not the kind of travel that got her closer to locals. or it did, but only a particular kind of local.

john knocks his drink back in one go; dani takes things a little slower, taking another sip. repeating the game where she holds his gaze while her lips are wrapped around the straw. ]

It's big and fun and crazy. It has everything a girl could dream of and then some.

[ you know. clothing brands, make-up brands, artists, food, clubs. the important things in life. ]
