CRASH LANDING

Exit one dimension, enter the next. It was chaos: pressure against your ears, light bending in an impossible, unimaginable way. The very molecules of your body vibrating against one another. If you have windows, the view outside makes no sense. Even if not, your hands, your face, your feet seem like an uncertain thing. It's the feel of reality itself tearing apart, reshaping, reconnecting, thread by thread.

And suddenly, there's a beach— or ocean, whichever you land in. Smoke. Fire. Salt water churning up, fizzing around, almost at odds with the layer of thick snow over everything.


Maybe you crash, in a ship wrecking into sand. Maybe you merely stumble out of a portal, a ragged wormhole in space. Or maybe you fall off the back of an incredible steed, some creature that carried you into this place. Either way, there's pandemonium around you. Incredibly, severe injuries are far and few between— nobody's screaming about the dead. But you might have to help pull someone free of wreckage, or move quickly to salvage burning belongings from the landing craft. Maybe it's the crafts themselves, that you're trying to salvage.

Likely, you don't know them, these other strangers who arrived here^[1]. Maybe you don't trust them— you just came out of a dying world, after all. But you all have one thing in common: you're here now.

When you get a second to breathe, maybe you'll see it. The snowy forest across the sand. Beyond that, the glint of a faraway city.

Dinner with a Succubus (NSFW)

Your first dinner party in Xistentia^[2] is a sumptuous and luxurious dinner that takes place at the private residence of one of the natives.

As you step in, the first thing you notice is the scent of indigenous flowers mingled with the floating traces of savory and sweet from the elaborate buffet set up on the side. Treats from around the Multiverse.



However, sectioned off from these public areas, there are spaces reserved for sexual activity. It's not so surprising, when you remember that the lights outisde, the power behind the city itself, runs off human emotional interaction— and desire is a powerful emotion indeed. These rooms feature every conceivable surface you might want to tangle on, from silk to lacquered desks, to rubber.

Chests hold sundry toys and other equipment. Rooms have beds sized comfortably from anywhere from one to five people, and there are peepholes. Everything is marked with painted symbols in a language that is known to no one person, but somehow universally comprehensible.

NETWORK

Xistentia now has its own 'friending app.' You can use it to make connections with new people! But beware, your daemon may well post without your permission, and things could get pretty embarrassing.

Anything that you are willing to give. From defenses to the best fighters and so on... But perhaps you would not know such things because you are a loner. I should speak with someone who is more of a leader? Perhaps you know who that is?

There were a few I knew of, but I do not think they reside here any longer.

[ Tony could qualify, but Loki would never recommend him. He frowns openly, thinking about it. A lack of knowledge is inexcusable. ]

We are scattered then. Interesting.

[ 'What fools', he thought to himself. ]

Enough of that, how dull. What do you do for amusement, Loki?

[ "We". His lip curls, but he plays it up. ]

Why do you wish to know?

[sadico]

I wish to know because I am attempting to find your weaknesses so I can destroy you.

[ He doesn't smile, his look unwavering, it was almost as though he was completely serious. ]

For example, if you tell me you enjoy playing catch with a ball I can then plot to fill the ball with explosives.

[ Okay, that makes him chuckle. ]

Very well. I enjoy knowledgeable pursuits and knifeplay.

[ He smirks, pleased with that result. ]

I enjoy both of those as well. I cannot plant a bomb in a knife or a book, unless it was a very little bomb, so I suppose you are safe from my plotting.

Is that why you are at this party, to gain knowledge?

[ Grimacing slightly, he takes a sip of his drink. ]

I am at this party because my brother made a case for loosening up. And I am trying to see whether this will work.

[ Loki does enjoy parties but he vacillates between enjoying himself and plotting people's demise. ]

[sadico]

Your brother thought that a sex party would loosen you up.

[ Pause. Huh. ]

Has he not heard of dating? Perhaps getting to know a person? Or is that too stiff?

[dothelokimotion]

We're Gods. Dating seems redundant when people barely exist in tandem to our heartbeats.

[ Granted, it hadn't stopped Thor from falling in love but Thor was always extreme in a different way. He took to things easily. Loki was harder to convince, harder to coax, even if his curiosity remains bright and unbridled. ]

And he did not mean the party, but simply relaxing my own standards in general.

[sadico]

You cannot date other gods?

[ His nose wrinkled faintly at that suggestion. ]

It is good to have high standards. I have never lowered mine... although I am still single.

[dothelokimotion]

[ He snorts lightly. ]

There aren't exactly a large number of those around.

Must be your rusty manners at work.

[sadico]

Is there not? What a pity.

[ Was it really? ]

I am told I come on too strongly, or not enough. Romance is difficult, yes?

[dothelokimotion]

[ Shortly. ]

I wouldn't know.

[ People do not romance Loki. Or consider him an option. His history sets him apart, among other things. ]

No? Do gods not want romance?

[ He imagined that due to that short reply that wasn't the case, but he asked anyway. ]

[dothelokimotion]

[ His mouth twists in familiar frustration. ]

It is not recommend, especially when we reside among mortals.

[ He's avoiding the question, but Loki doesn't want to get into the nature of why he doesn't do romance. ]

Does a recommendation matter when it comes to the heart?

[ There was a pause after he said that, then he sighed with a slight raise of his hand in concession. ]

There is no need to answer that. My questions have become prying and personal. I was caught off guard.

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki waves it off. He no longer has that burning kernel of resentment and frustration buried deep against his heart. He can handle a few conversations, personal or otherwise. ]

I try not to bank too much on sentiment. Matters of the heart change little of the reality we reside in.

[sadico]

Is that so?

[ For a brief moment Ignacio looked thoughtful, maybe even disappointed at the idea that love meant so little in the grand scheme of things, but he soon shrugged it off. ]

I will not monopolize your evening. Perhaps we will meet another time.

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki inclines his head politely. ]

Of course. Enjoy yourself. Perhaps you can salvage your manners for other conversations.

I doubt it.

[ His smirk was wry before he resumed his evening elsewhere. ]
