Glimmer | The Hunger Games (flimverse) | OTA

Crash landing
At first, Glimmer had assumed it was the Gamemakers. That would have made sense--there had been earthquakes and landslides and things like that in other Games. But then there'd been a strange noise, like something huge tearing open and something glowing in front of her.

She'd been holding on to Cato hand as they all tried to run, she knew she had, but somehow she'd been the only one to run headlong into the light and then she'd fallen…through the Arena. Which didn't make any fucking sense.

She didn't have time to think about that right away, since for some reason she was underwater. It was a good thing she'd known the Arena could have been surrounded by water and had prepared to have to swim, so she only panicked for moment when water started filling her throat before she kicked her way to the surface and then to the shore.

Being on land didn't make things make anymore sense. Not when he looked around and saw things on fire and people who definitely weren't Tributes running around. She didn't think as she reached to her side, feeling a little better when she felt the bow and quiver on her body. Then, ignoring the screaming--let those helpless losers figure their own way out--she started running for the trees, cursing when her wet feet, clumped with sand, stumbled over a rock and she fell to her knees.

Fair
Glimmer had never seen anything like this before. Sure, she'd seen buildings that were all lit up different colors and people in weird clothes in the Capitol, but all the smells of things she knew she'd never eaten because they would have made her fat, and the strange giant wheel...those were totally new and--she would only admit to herself--a little scary.

Right now, she was standing a couple feet from a stall where people were walking away with something that looked like it was fried and covered in more sugar than people in most Districts would have ever been able to afford. She took a couple steps forward, trying to sound completely uninterested as she asked the first person she saw,

"What the heck is that?"
