oh the weather outside is frightful ( crash landing )
[ earthquakes weren't a rare occurrence. at least, they weren't so much as to arouse any real suspicion in zane freeman when they happen. typically they are short, just barely noticeable, and are over and done with before he would have even had time to get "somewhere safe"
(and what's safer than the middle of his own bed right in the thick of a Netflix marathon?)
this earthquake was different, though. the skies ripped apart like they were nothing more than a flimsy sheet of paper, the earth shook and everything around him rattled loudly. various things falling from their shelves and clattering to the ground. pressure began to crush him, an invisible weight that grew heavier and heavier with each passing second, his ears popping and throbbing painfully, his bones aching as if someone were trying to crush them. the entire universe felt as though it was being shoved through the eye of a needle.
for a moment, there's silence. nothingness. not even the sound of zane's heartbeat. just the emptiness that existed in the space between the universes.
but in an instant, it's all rushing back -- every feeling, every sense, every light, sound and color -- and the nineteen-year-old is thrown onto the shore, sand flying in every direction, debris raining down on all sides of him, screams from the others around filling his head. ]
Where the hell am I? [ he sputters out, coughing as he manages to inhale a few grains of sand, one of his hands reaching up to touch his forehead -- where he feels pain blooming from a wound he must have acquired at some point. he's met by the sticky feeling of blood on his fingertips and a sudden surge of pain where he'd just made contact, wincing slightly. ]
Fuck. What the hell is going on? [ his head turns on a swivel, he can't see her anywhere. ] Crimson, where are you?
its beginning to look a lot like christmas ( winter festival )
[ zane recognizes most of the holiday decorations, they're reminiscent of the ones from his own world -- a sentiment that he's yet to wrap his head around. different worlds. different universes all converging in one place, and he just so happened to be one of the chosen few plucked from one.
(thankfully so had his other half. it would have otherwise been a strange sensation for feel someones presence even when they weren't there, but such a thing had always been prevalent in zane's life.)
and as strange a sensation it is to recognize things in a completely unfamiliar place, it doesn't deter him from partaking in them; browsing the cakes and other treats trying each one in an attempt to find his favorite, allowing his hands to be intricately decorated with henna ink, and even indulging in a glass of the classic holiday treat -- eggnog.
(spiked with copious amounts of liquor, of course. how else does one get though holiday events like these?)
where ever you happen to stumble upon zane, however, it's likely that his twin hasn't ventured very far, they two seeming to stick close to one another unless otherwise needed. ]
